AFL Speakers Series 2018: French Education in Kentucky

Alliance Française de Louisville (AFL) is honored to bring you these exciting events that explore French culture. The presentations are free for AFL members--a $5 donation is required for non-members--and will take place at AFL, 1313 Lyndon Lane, Suite 111, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Each presentation, in English with commentary in French, will be approximately 45 minutes including a question and answer session. A social interaction will follow the presentations. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Presentation topic for October 14, 2018 is: Dr. Jacque Van Houten, World Language Specialist, Jefferson County Public Schools; Alfonso De Torres Núñez, Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of Program Standards, Kentucky Department of Education; and Dr. Xiao Yin Zhao, Executive Director, World Affairs Council (WAC) of Kentucky & Southern Indiana will have a conversation regarding the future of French education in Kentucky schools and the WAC Global Citizenship Certificate Program for students.

In our next edition of the AFL book club, we will be reading and discussing "La Vérité sur l'Affaire Harry Quebert" by Joël Dicker.

This book is in French and we will be discussing it in French and English. If reading a whole book in French seems overwhelming to you, do not hesitate to read its English translation: "The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair."

Still free to AFL members! A $5 donation is suggested for non-members.
