Course Description: Aimed at intermediate to advanced French students, this course will offer close readings of current news and affairs surrounding the Francophone world as well as select literature readings. All readings will be in French and selected based on contemporary topics. This course will aim to improve vocabulary, reading, and listening comprehension, and inform students of current events in French news.     January 14th - March 18th  • Wednesdays 6:00p - 7:00p Prof: Véronique Strange Location: via Zoom (link will be provided) Required Materials: Student must be able to access films on their own time through streaming services. HOW DOES IT WORK?
    • Chosen films may contain graphic imagery or language that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Please review selected film summaries below. Each session, we have chosen a film for you to view at home. Our selections are usually available via various streaming. 
    • Meetings will take place every two weeks with time allotted to view film on students own time in between.
    • Every participant watches the film before the discussion at a time that fits their schedule (streaming options will be shared to students)
    • Participants must RSVP to the event to receive the Zoom meeting link in a confirmation email.
    • At the time of the event, participants join the online Zoom meeting.
    • A list of questions will be made available as a proposed structure for the discussion.
    • Have fun discussing the films with other participants in a relaxed atmosphere! Each event will last about 90min.

    January 17th - March 21st  • Saturdays 12:00p - 1:00p Prof: Fatima-Ezzahrae Nsais Location: AFL Office | 9505 Williamsburg Plaza, Louisville, KY 40222 Required Materials: Students are responsible for purchasing the following materials: Inspire Lycée 1 (Available Here) Course Description: Aimed at teenagers aged 12-17, this class will introduce our teen friends to the French language and help them develop all four linguistic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Study of vocabulary, grammar, and culture will also be fully integrated within the course and taught in context. They will continue their exposition to a new world of sounds and words which they will learn and retain through association and multi-sensory learning (music, dance, crafts, play, and other age-appropriate activities.) They will learn basic greetings, counting at least to ten, and vocabulary for animals, family members, and more, through music, dance, crafts, play, and other age-appropriate activities. Course Description: The objective of this course is to enhance speaking and comprehension skills through lessons and exercises that focus on the French phonological system. Students will learn about the system of sounds made in the French language and will practice producing and differentiating these sounds in context.
