It’s that time of year again! Join Alliance Française de Louisville as we celebrate the season’s new wine with live music, lively conversation, and French tradition. Enjoy the sounds of Mike O’Bryan on the accordion, mingle with fellow francophones and Francophiles, and practice ordering your drinks in French with Jennifer Shirley tending bar. Ruben Pavlov will give a short presentation introducing the Beaujolais region and its celebrated Nouveau wine. You can also participate in our 50/50 raffle where 50% of the money earned goes to you and 50% goes to AFL!

Located in eastern France, between Lyon and Mâcon, Beaujolais is a picturesque wine region known for its vineyard-covered hills and diverse soils from granite in the north to clay and limestone farther south. Its signature grape, Gamay, produces wines prized for their expressive fruit and freshness.

Beaujolais Nouveau offers an early taste of the year’s harvest. Released each year on the third Thursday of November, this youthful red wine is made from Gamay grapes and enjoyed soon after bottling. Typically light-bodied and lively, it features fresh red-fruit flavors, such as cherry and raspberry, with soft tannins. Its characteristic fruitiness owes much to carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration, a process in which whole grapes begin fermenting in a carbon dioxide-rich environment. The result is a fresh, approachable wine that captures the celebratory spirit of the season.

Come raise a glass, treasure tradition, and share the joy of the harvest with AFL. À votre santé!
