What levels of class does Alliance Française de Louisville offer?
Our classes now follow the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) levels. You can read about the different levels and their descriptors here.
Average hours of study to complete the A1 level: 80-100 hours
Average hours of study to complete the A2 level: 100-120 hours (200-220 cumulative hours)
Average hours of study to complete the B1 level: 150-200 hours (370-420 cumulative hours)
Average hours of study to complete the B2 level: 200-250 hours (620-670 cumulative hours)
Where can I take the placement test?
You may take the Alliance Française placement test here to determine your current level of French.
What is AFL’s refund policy?

How does inclement weather effect classes?
In the event of inclement weather (snow, ice, etc.), we follow JCPS’ closures. Refer to JCPS here. Cancelled classes will be made up at the end of the session.
What do I do if my schedule doesn’t work with AFL’s?
Don’t want to take a class? Or, the below schedule doesn’t work for you? We also have private lessons.
How do I register for classes?
Use one of the following methods:
- Add to your cart one of our classes listed below and pay using PayPal or credit card. You can check out as a guest if you do not have a PayPal account.
- Download the registration form in PDF or in Word format, fill it in and email it back to firstname.lastname@example.org. Then, bring a check or cash to the office before or on your first day of lessons. You may also mail your payment to us.
- Contact us by phone at (502) 420-0800!
Special Note: Our tuition does not cover membership or textbook costs.
What are AFL’s membership requirements?
In an effort to bring AFL in line with standard procedures in Alliance Française chapters around the world, we request that all students in adult 10-week classes be members of AFL.
Since AFL students are indeed students, they will be able to purchase a membership at the student rate of $35 per year. If you are unsure about your membership status, contact us at (502) 420-0800 or email@example.com.
