AFL Concours de performance audiovisuelle en français Printemps 2025

The Alliance Française de Louisville is sponsoring a Concours de performance audiovisuelle en français. This is a performance contest for high school and middle school students studying French in the state of Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Students will work as a team (a minimum of 3 students will appear in the video, but no more than 5) to produce a 2-4-minute video in French expressing music, theater, poetry, or a story.

Three monetary prizes will be awarded by the AFL committee to the participating teacher to be used for French activities with students:

Grand Prix                           $500

Deuxième Prix                   $250

Troisième Prix                  $100

The winning videos will be shared on the AFL website and social media channels, including YouTube and Instagram.

Eligibility

High school and middle school students in the state of Kentucky are eligible to participate in the competition, as well as students in a southern Indiana county that borders Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Each team must be sponsored by at least one current French teacher. Parental consent required upon submission (see below).

Rules

All submissions must adhere to the rules below. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted for the competition.

  • The video must be at least one minute long and no more than three minutes long.
  • Material used in the video must be created by the participants
  • The video must include at least three students performing in the video.
  • All audio content must be in French.

Creativity and originality the (“je ne sais quoi” factor) 25%
Overall video and content quality 25%
Professionalism (comportment, preparedness of the participants) 25%
Quality of French 25%

Instructions for Submitting a Video

Each video must be submitted by a teacher to be considered for the competition (schools may submit one than one entry if they have more than one class of students interested in participating).

Before submitting the video, ensure that it meets the requirements outlined in the video instructions. You are welcome to edit the video as necessary to ensure it falls into the appropriate time length and is well-polished. Check that the audio is clear and not distorted.

Once the video is ready, send an email with the following details:

  • Send the email to afschool@bellsouth.net
  • Use the subject line: Submission for French Video Competition
  • Include a link to the shared video (see instructions below)
  • Provide the full name of each participant, including any teachers
  • State the school (including the city and state) that you are enrolled in
  • Parental/Guardian consent must be included
    • Attach a signed parental permission form for each participant, scanned as a PDF or a clear photo of the signed form

Video files are often too large to send as an email or text assignment, so we recommend using one of uploading the file to cloud storage and emailing a link to the shared file.

TikTok videos will not be accepted!

Choose a cloud storage option that you have access to and upload the video to your account. Once the video has been uploaded, generate a link that is shared with afschool@bellsouth.net.

Videos that we cannot open will not be accepted into the competition. Ensure that the file is shared correctly.
