Course Registration and Withdrawal Policies
Effective June 2025
- Adults registering for courses must be members of Alliance Française de Louisville.
- Membership may be purchased at the AFL Student Rate at time of registration.
- Private lesson students, French for Travelers students, and children are not subject to the mandatory membership policy. They are nonetheless encouraged to become members of AFL.
- Tuition must be paid in full before the first class.
- Late registration will incur a $25 administrative fee.
- Each course is offered as a whole except where otherwise indicated in the course description (such as the Ciné-Salon course).
- Tuition will not be prorated for students who cannot attend every class.
- Withdrawals are subject to the following refund terms:
- A $50.00 withdrawal fee will be deducted from the amount of all refunds and tuition credits to cover our administrative costs for processing course withdrawals.
- Membership fees and course materials are not refundable.
- Students must withdraw no later than (2) two weeks before the course session begins to receive a full tuition refund, less the $50 withdrawal fee.
- Students who withdraw after this two-week period, but before the end of the second week of a 10-week course session will receive a credit equal to 75% of tuition paid, less the $50 withdrawal fee.
- The credit can be used toward membership fees, events, or future courses.
- No credit for previously paid course fees will be issued after the second week of 10-week classes. For other types of courses (including 5-week courses, 3-week mini-sessions, summer camps and workshops), the time period for 75% tuition credits will be reduced as follows:
- For 3- or 5-week classes: before the end of the first week
- For summer camps: before the second day of the camp
- For workshops: two business days before the scheduled class.
- No refunds or credits can be granted for classes that a student misses.
- AFL reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment (3 students minimum).
- If a course must be cancelled, enrolled students will be notified of the cancellation before the first class meets.
- In the event a course is cancelled, all enrolled students will receive a full refund on tuition.
- Individual classes may be cancelled at the instructor’s discretion, especially in the event of inclement weather.
- Any classes that must be cancelled will be made up during the scheduled course session or in the week following the session.
