April 15 - June 17 • Wednesdays 6:00p - 7:00p Prof: Véronique Strange Location: via Zoom (link will be provided) Required Materials: Participants must be able to access films on their own time through streaming services. Chosen films may contain graphic imagery or language that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Please review selected film summaries linked below.How does it work?
- The instructor has selected a specific film for each session. Our selections are available via various streaming services, usually at no cost.
- Meetings will take place every two weeks with time allotted to view film on students own time in between.
- Each participant watches the film before the discussion at a time that fits their schedule.
- Participants must register for the event to receive the Zoom meeting link in a confirmation email.
- Register no later than Monday before a discussion to ensure receipt of the Zoom link in time for the event.
- At the time of the event, participants join the online Zoom meeting.
- A list of questions will be made available as a proposed structure for the discussion.
- Have fun discussing the films with other participants in a relaxed atmosphere! Each meeting will last about 90 min.

If you want to sign up for all five films, select that option in the purchase menu. If you only want to attend some of the discussions, each meeting is listed as a separate product in this page, with each meeting priced at $15. (No discounts available.) You may add any or all of them to your cart for purchase, although our system only allows one item to be selected at a time. To add an additional item, return to this page to select the next item. This allows each participant to purchase exactly the films that they want to attend and lets us know who plans to attend which meeting. We will also leave the Ciné Salon page open until the last week of the session, to allow additional participants to register. -
Speaker Series: The French Kitchen
Join us on Sunday, April 19 from 3:00–4:30 PM, for a special Speaker Series event with USA TODAY bestselling author Kristy Cambron, who will discuss her 2025 historical novel The French Kitchen. Set across dual timelines in World War II–era France and 1952 Paris, The French Kitchen weaves together a story of secrets, espionage, and resilience. The novel follows women whose lives intersect through wartime intelligence networks and a postwar cooking class led by the legendary Julia Child, revealing how the past continues to shape their futures. Kristy Cambron is a USA TODAY bestselling author who writes from the space where beauty, art, and history intersect. She's a Christy Award-winning author of historical fiction, including her internationally bestselling novels, The Butterfly and the Violin and The Paris Dressmaker, as well as nonfiction titles.
