Set against the charm and elegance of one of Louisville’s most treasured landmarks, this special night brings together friends, members, and supporters to celebrate French language and culture in Louisville. Guests will enjoy drinks and light refreshments in an atmosphere inspired by the French art de vivre, along with lively conversation and opportunities to connect with fellow Francophiles. The evening will also feature a silent auction showcasing a curated selection of items and experiences generously donated by Louisville businesses, corporate partners, and talented local makers. Your support helps sustain and grow our program, from language classes to cultural event, ensuring that French culture continues to thrive in Louisville. We look forward to celebrating with you for a truly memorable night in support of a vibrant and meaningful cause. This is a bilingual event — all languages are welcome!

Ciné Salon | Spring 2026

April 15 - June 17 • Wednesdays 6:00p - 7:00p Prof: Véronique Strange Location: via Zoom (link will be provided) Required Materials: Participants must be able to access films on their own time through streaming services. Chosen films may contain graphic imagery or language that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Please review selected film summaries linked below.
How does it work?

The instructor has selected a specific film for each session. Our selections are available via various streaming services, usually at no cost.

Meetings will take place every two weeks with time allotted to view film on students own time in between.

Each participant watches the film before the discussion at a time that fits their schedule.

Participants must register for the event to receive the Zoom meeting link in a confirmation email.

Register no later than Monday before a discussion to ensure receipt of the Zoom link in time for the event.

At the time of the event, participants join the online Zoom meeting.

A list of questions will be made available as a proposed structure for the discussion.

Have fun discussing the films with other participants in a relaxed atmosphere! Each meeting will last about 90 min.

Participants will meet every other week to discuss the following films:

Registered participants will receive a Zoom link for the online discussion.
Where can I view the films?
All films are available at no cost through TubiTV or YouTube. Some films may also be available on other services, such as The Roku Channel or Pluto TV. The links to the films in the list above includes information about where each movie can be streamed.
How do I sign up for multiple meetings?
If you want to sign up for all five films, select that option in the purchase menu. If you only want to attend some of the discussions, each meeting is listed as a separate product in this page, with each meeting priced at $15. (No discounts available.) You may add any or all of them to your cart for purchase, although our system only allows one item to be selected at a time. To add an additional item, return to this page to select the next item. This allows each participant to purchase exactly the films that they want to attend and lets us know who plans to attend which meeting. We will also leave the Ciné Salon page open until the last week of the session, to allow additional participants to register.

Join us on Sunday, April 19 from 3:00–4:30 PM, for a special Speaker Series event with USA TODAY bestselling author Kristy Cambron, who will discuss her 2025 historical novel The French Kitchen. Kristy Cambron Biography
Kristy Cambron is a USA TODAY bestselling author who writes from the space where beauty, art, and history intersect. She's a Christy Award-winning author of historical fiction, including her internationally bestselling novels, The Butterfly and the Violin and The Paris Dressmaker, as well as nonfiction titles. Her work has been named to Cosmopolitan's Best Historical Fiction Novels, Publishers Weekly Religion and Spirituality TOP 10, Library Journal's Best Books, and has been featured at People Magazine, Once Upon a Book Club Box, Frolic, Book Club Girl, BookBub, and Country Woman Magazine. Course Description: The objective of this course is to enhance speaking and comprehension skills through lessons and exercises that focus on the French phonological system. Students will learn about the system of sounds made in the French language and will practice producing and differentiating these sounds in context.

Class discussions will be based on two formats: spontaneous exchanges on topics brought up by students and material assigned in advance by the instructor. Such material may include magazine articles, headline news focusing on contemporary issues, short stories, movies, poems, and songs.
