The Alliance Française de Louisville offers private instruction for individuals and groups in French. If you need flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule, or you feel that you will benefit from learning at your own pace, private lessons with one of our instructors are for you.

After discussing your personal objectives, our instructors can design a curriculum to address your specific needs.

Use this unique resource to prepare for a test, get ready for a trip, or fill in a gap in your knowledge. Some students who take private lessons simply enjoy the skill enhancement that comes from one-on-one conversation with a proficient speaker.

Private lessons may take place at the AFL classrooms or online, via Zoom. Cost of textbooks and materials, if any, are additional.

Important Information:

  • Lessons are purchased in denominations of 5 hours.
  • Payment must be made before the first lesson takes place, and every 5 hours subsequently.
  • Before paying online, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page (if you would like to speak with a staff member, please call the AFL office at (502) 420-0800.)
  • We will need the following information provided before you schedule and purchase your lessons:
    • Name(s) of student(s) taking lessons:
    • Contact information (email address and phone number):
    • Availability (preferred days and times to conduct lessons):
    • Level of French (beginner, advanced, etc.):
    • Location (AFL Office or Online):
  • We do not conduct private lessons at the students personal residence.
  • After submission of request form, please await contact from the office to be paired with a professor (1-2 business days).
  • Lessons must be used in the 6 months following payment and are non-refundable.
  • Cancellation, scheduling, and rescheduling must be made 24 hours before the lesson, otherwise your scheduled class will be charged in full.

Please note that these prices do not include course materials and unscheduled private lessons expire 6 months after the date of purchase.

Lessons may be purchased in single units in special cases (trying out our private lessons before committing to a 5-hour sequence or clearing one’s account):
