Clay St., Louisville, KY 40202 See map Price: $79 for members | $89 for non-members  Join the Alliance Française de Louisville at Nouvelle Bar & Bottle on July 20th from 6:00–8:00 PM for an immersive evening exploring the wines that shaped the world. It’s easy to say, “France again?” but the truth is that you can’t fully understand wine without understanding France. French wine regions created the foundation for many of the grapes, styles, and traditions we know today. To truly build a strong wine knowledge base, we always come back to France. During this special crash course, we’ll journey through some of France’s most influential wine regions, discovering the origins of iconic grapes and the lasting impact these wines have had across the globe. Along the way, you’ll taste exceptional wines from some of the country’s most respected producers while learning how France forever changed the wine world. The evening will be led by acclaimed sommelier John Grisanti, whose depth of knowledge and engaging teaching style make wine approachable, exciting, and unforgettable. John holds an impressive list of credentials, including Certified Sommelier, WSET III, CSW, CSS, Certified Cicerone, and Masters of Champagne. Tickets include:

    April 15 - June 17  •  Wednesdays 6:00p - 7:00p Prof: Véronique Strange Location: via Zoom (link will be provided) Required Materials: Participants must be able to access films on their own time through streaming services. Chosen films may contain graphic imagery or language that may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Please review selected film summaries linked below.

    How does it work?

    • The instructor has selected a specific film for each session. Our selections are available via various streaming services, usually at no cost. 
    • Meetings will take place every two weeks with time allotted to view film on students' own time in between.
    • Each participant watches the film before the discussion at a time that fits their schedule.
    • Participants must register for the event to receive the Zoom meeting link in a confirmation email.
      • Register no later than Monday before a discussion to ensure receipt of the Zoom link in time for the event.
    • At the time of the event, participants join the online Zoom meeting.
    • A list of questions will be made available as a proposed structure for the discussion.
    • Have fun discussing the films with other participants in a relaxed atmosphere! Each meeting will last about 90 min.

    What films are included?

    Participants will meet every other week to discuss the following films: Registered participants will receive a Zoom link for the online discussion.

    Where can I view the films?

    All films are available at no cost through TubiTV or YouTube. Some films may also be available on other services, such as The Roku Channel or Pluto TV. The links to the films in the list above includes information about where each movie can be streamed.

    How do I sign up for multiple meetings?

    If you want to sign up for all remaining film discussions, select that option in the purchase menu. If you only want to attend some of the discussions, each meeting is listed as a separate product in this page, with each meeting priced at $15. (No discounts available.) You may add any or all of them to your cart for purchase, although our system only allows one item to be selected at a time. To add an additional item, return to this page to select the next item. This allows each participant to purchase exactly the films that they want to attend and lets us know who plans to attend which meeting. We will also leave the Ciné Salon page open until the last week of the session, to allow additional participants to register.

Katalayi. We’ll gather at the AFL Office on March 21 from 11 AM–1 PM for a guided discussion in French led by AFL Board Members Victoria Boggs and Megan Scott. Light refreshments will be served. Diana N. Katalayi will also be the featured guest at our March Speaker Series on March 29 from 3:00–4:30 PM, offering attendees a special opportunity to continue the conversation and engage with her about the novel. This event is free for AFL members and $15 for non-members. Please note that each participant is responsible for purchasing their own copy of the book, and the entire novel should be read prior to our March 21 meeting. Lors de cette conférence, elle partagera son parcours d’écriture et son expérience de l’autoédition, tout en présentant l’histoire et les thèmes de son ouvrage. La discussion sera interactive et permettra aux participants d’échanger directement avec l’autrice. La conférence se déroulera entièrement en français. Entre rigueur juridique et passion littéraire, Diana N. Katalayi Ilunga navigue avec aisance. Diplômée d'un Master en Droit des Affaires, d'un Master en Corporate Law et et d'un  Master en Assurances, cette juriste de métier est aussi une autrice qui fait bouger les lignes. Convaincue que la littérature doit être le miroir de notre société, elle crée en 2021 Les Supers Ilunga pour que chaque enfant puisse s'identifier et croire en l'impossible.
